The snake boats that take part in the races are considered vehicles of Lord Parthasarathy. Aranmula is renowned the world over for its marvel called Aranmula Kannadi the famed metal mirrors. It is a unique craft and wonder of metallurgy. The Aranmula Kottaram made of carved wood, is an architectural wonder with a proud history dating back over 200 years. It is the place where the ‘Thiru Abharanam’ – the ornaments of Lord Ayyappa at Sabarimala are kept as a stopover during its annual procession from Pandalam to Sabarimala.
